What can you see?
At the pilgrimage site at various times of the year, it is possible to observe magnificent and wide views over the surrounding Trás-os-Montes mountain ranges, namely Serra da Padrela, Serra de Bornes, Serra de Montesinho and Serra da Coroa, among others, as well as part of the districts of Vila Real and Bragança, and over the region of Sanabria with its imposing mountains that exceed 2100 meters in altitude, already located in Castile and León. At one of the highest points of this mountain range is the Sanctuary of Santa Comba, where a religious festival is held every year in honor of the patron saint who gives the mountain its name on August 8th of each year, a pilgrimage based on the Legend of Santa Comba. The Serra de Santa Comba is also very popular for paragliding events, as it allows take-offs in several directions, both to the West from the municipality of Valpaços, Parish of Vales, as well as to the East in the municipality of Mirandela from the Parish of the Steps and Lamas of Orelhão. Several climbing events are also held on the slopes of Serra de Santa Comba.
