Azeite Furada (Quinta da Furada)

Furada is a farm that has belonged to the same family for at least seven generations. The current descendants are great-great-grandchildren of his heir Valério Augusto de Sousa, who saw his first child born in the house in 1919, which is still inhabited today.

Born in 1888, he often said that his wife had inherited the current houses with surrounding vineyards and olive groves from his grandparents, but to which, and at the will of Filoxera, he himself added 24 more lots, by purchasing them from 24 small neighboring landowners, who were then disillusioned. with the effects of this almost fatal disease for the Douro.

Thus expanding Quinta da Furada, which has remained one since then, guarding secrets, stories, flavors and mysteries.

The name "Furada" comes from the various holes and ancient excavations in the ground found to date and which have always been attributed to the search for precious metals since at least the Romans' passage through the territory, in search of gold and more recently tungsten.

We have no doubt that the great preciousness of the Quinta emerges from the ground every year and that it is its fruits, especially the grapes and olives that constitute weighty arguments with which the blessed Douro Wines Pata D'Urso, Furada Ports and Olive Oil are born. Bored.
